4 Ways to Naturally Whiten Your Teeth

Natural Solutions for Whitening Your Teeth

We all want white teeth. Many of us have yellow or stained teeth from the foods we eat and the drinks we drink. However, paying a dentist for professional teeth whitening is not always an option. We may not have the spare cash needed to pay our copays because we have so many other financial responsibilities to worry about. So, here are 4 natural solutions to help you whiten your teeth:

  • Baking Soda/Hydrogen Peroxide: Most toothpaste includes baking soda as a tooth whitener. You can add some more to your toothpaste before you brush to give it some extra power. You can also mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make your own version of teeth-whitening toothpaste. Be careful to not make the paste too gritty as that can damage your teeth instead of whitening them.

  • Charcoal: You may be thinking that charcoal is black. How could that whiten teeth? Charcoal is abrasive which makes it great for removing plaque and yellow from your teeth. Just some it onto your teeth before you brush and then follow your normal brushing routine. Do not get charcoal on your gums though.

  • Fruit: Citrus fruits are excellent options for brightening your teeth. You can take the peel of an orange or lemon and rub it on the inside of your teeth.  If you do this, brush your teeth soon after. The acid from the fruit can damage your teeth if left on for too long. You will also need to do this for several weeks before noticing any results.

  • Oil Pulling: The effectiveness of this solution is questioned by some. It is a new trend in the dental profession and does not have a lot of science to back it. You simply take a spoonful of coconut oil and swish it around your mouth for 10-15 minutes prior to brushing your teeth.
